0 Hi, I have a Samsung and wanted to know the answer too. Luckily I worked it out for myself. What you do is go to the Phonebook & select the name that you want to assign a Speed Dial to. Press the "soft" key for Options (the key to the left of the OK button). Scroll down the numbered list by pressing the dot underneath the OK button, until you get to option number 11 - "Assign speed dial". Press the "soft" button for Select, then use the directional keys (which are actually the dots around the OK button) to highlight / select a Number that is not in use, and press the soft button under Select. NOW TO USE THE SPEED DIAL, you do the following - At the "home" page or whatever you call it, the first screen of the phone, merely press the Number of the speed dial, e.g. 4 then press the soft key for Options. The first choice will be highlighted - it is no. 1 "Voice call" - just press the soft key for Select to make the phone call !! NOTE I tried to use 3. "Send message" to try send a text to my sister's mobile but that didn't work. YET ANOTHER NOTE I had already assigned some Contacts to some Speed Dials (to my surprise, until I remembered I had used my Samsung years ago then lost it, so bought a HTC Wildfire phone which I don't like, then luckily I found my beloved Samsung A411 which I like). I was scratching my head wondering which speed dial numbers I had assigned to whom. When I went to assign a speed dial this time around, I saw the Numbers in use had a few letters indicating who they might be for, e.g. SMI which hypothetically is short for SMITH. Unfortunately I have TWO entries for SMITH in my phone and had assigned them both to Speed numbers, one being a LAN line and one being a Mobile, so the letters SMI did not fully help me! I desperately looked at my entries in the Phonebook under SMITH (hypothetically) and Edited and all sorts to see if the Entry in the Phonebook told me what Speed Dial I had assigned the Entry to. Woe is me, no such luck, the phone makers were not so logical or helpful or something (maybe intelligent enough) to do that simple but very helpful thing. LESSON LEARNED - I should record which Speed Dial numbers I assign to who. For now, to find that answer, I will have to use the actual Speed Dial numbers to call Ms SMITH and ask Ms SMITH is it her mobile or her LAN (or look in the Phone Log). NOTE when you use the Speed Dial number, it just flashes up with the surname of whoever you are calling, in this case, of course it is SMITH, i.e. it does NOT show the telephone number you are calling !!! arrrgh - would be nice if all this was in the Manual.
