Additional information
Radio frequency (RF) exposure and
SAR
Your mobile phone is a low-power radio transm
itter
and receiver. When it is turned on, it emits low leve
ls
of radio frequency energy (also known as radi
o waves
or radio frequency fields).
Governments around the world have adopted
comprehensive international safety guidelines,
developed by scientific organizations, e.g. ICNI
RP
(International Commission on Non-Ionizing
Radiation
Protection) and IEEE (The institute of Electric
al and
Electronics Engineers Inc.) through periodic and
thorough evaluation of scientific studies. T
hese
guidelines establish permitted levels of radio wa
ve
exposure for the general population. All Sony Ericss
on
mobile phone models are designed to operate within
these stringent levels. The levels include a safety
margin designed to assure the safety of all persons,
regardless of age and health, and to account fo
r any
variations in measurements.
Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is the unit of
measurement for the amount of radio frequenc
y
energy absorbed by the body when using a mobil
e
phone. The SAR value is determined at the hi
ghest
certified power level in laboratory conditions, but t
he
actual SAR level of the mobile phone whil
e operating
can be well below this value.
This is because the mobile phone is designed to
use
the minimum power required to reach the netwo
rk.
Variations in SAR below the radio frequency exposur
e
guidelines do not mean that there are variati
ons in
safety. While there may be differences in SAR lev
els
among mobile phones, all Sony Ericsson mobile
phone models are designed to meet radio frequen
cy
exposure guidelines.
A separate leaflet with SAR information for
this mobile
phone model is included with the material that com
es
with this mobile phone. This information can also b
e
found, together with more information on radio
frequency exposure and SAR, on
www.SonyEricsson.com/.
Driving
Please check if local laws and regulations restri
ct the
use of mobile phones while driving or require drivers
to use handsfree solutions. We recommend that
you
use only Ericsson or Sony Ericsson handsfree solu
tions
intended for use with your product. Please no
te that
because of possible interference to electronic
equipment, some vehicle manufacturers forbid the
use of mobile phones in their vehicles unless
a
handsfree kit with an external antenna suppor
ts the
installation.
Always give full attention to driving and pull
off the
road and park before making or answering a call
if
driving conditions so require.
