HDMI connection
This TV incorporates HDMI™ technology. HDMI
(high-definition multimedia interface) is the world’s first
complete digital consumer AV interface complying with
a non-compression standard.
HDMI allows you to enjoy high-definition digital images
and high-quality sound by connecting the TV and the
equipment.
Applicable HDMI features
Input audio signal:
2ch Linear PCM (sampling frequencies - 48 kHz,
44.1 kHz, 32 kHz)
Input video signal:
“Input signal that can be displayed” (p. 26)
Match the output setting of the digital equipment.
Audio Return Channel
(HDMI 2 terminal only)
DVI connection
If the external equipment has only a DVI output, connect
to the HDMI terminal via a DVI to HDMI adaptor cable.
When the DVI to HDMI adaptor cable is used, connect
the audio cable to the audio input terminal (use AV audio
terminals).
Note
Audio settings can be made on [HDMI1-2 in] in the
[S
ound] menu.
All signals are reformatted before being displayed on
the sc
reen.
If the connected device has an aspect adjustment
fu
nction, set the aspect ratio to “16:9”.
These HDMI connectors are “type A”.
These HDMI connectors are compatible with HDCP
(H
igh-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) copyright
protection.
Equipment having no digital output terminal may be
co
nnected to the input terminal of COMPONENT or
VIDEO to receive analogue signals.

Audio Return Channel (ARC) is a function to send
digital sound signals via an HDMI cable.
DIGITAL AUDIO OUT terminal
You can enjoy your Home theater by connecting a
Dolby Digital (5.1 channel) decoder and “Multi Channel”
amplifier to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT terminals.

Depending on your DVD player and DVD-Audio

Closed Caption (CC)
For viewing the CC of digital broadcasting, set the

pect to [FULL]. (If viewing with [H-FILL], [JUST],
[ZOOM] or [4:3]; characters might be cut off).
The CC can be displayed on the TV only when the

ceiver (such as a Cable box or satellite receiver)
has the CC set to “On” within the device itself. Check
with your Cable or Satellite provider for instructions.
If the CC is set to “On” on both the receiver and
TV w
hen the signal is 480i (except for the HDMI
connection), the CC may overlap on the TV.
If a digital program is being output in analog format,
th
e CC data will also be output in analog format.
If the recorder or output monitor is connected to the
TV
, the CC needs to be set up on the recorder or
output monitor.
