E-mail support
The purpose of this document is to help you avoid problems
when using e-mail with your Nokia 9300i. It walks you
through defining the right settings for your e-mail account
and discusses some common problems that can be caused
by wrong settings.
Defining e-mail account settings
If you are just starting to use e-mail with your Nokia 9300i,
select Desk
Tools Control Panel Messaging and
press Create new to create a new e-mail account. Select
E-mail as the type of the new account and press OK.
Note: Remote e-mail uses an e-mail account
based on the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) data
synchronization protocol. It is used via a PC
computer that has Nokia PC Suite installed, not
directly from your Nokia 9300i.
If you have an existing account whose settings you want
to change, select Desk
Tools Control Panel
Messaging, choose the right account and press Select.
Note that if you leave any mandatory settings undefined,
the device displays a message telling you what still needs
to be done. You cannot save the account settings until
every mandatory setting has been defined.
1 On the General page you can define the following:
E-mail account name (mandatory) — You can give the
account any name you want as long as its length
does not exceed 25 characters. You can name the
account after your e-mail service provider, for
example, or create accounts for Work and Home.
My name — Enter your name as you want it to be
seen in the messages you send.
Username (mandatory) — Enter the user name for
your e-mail account as given to you by your e-mail
service provider.
Password — Enter your password as given to you by
your e-mail service provider. If you leave this field
empty, you will be asked your password when you
try to connect to your mailbox.
My e-mail address (mandatory) — Enter the e-mail
address given to you by your e-mail service provider.
It must contain the @ character.
