4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 45).

6. Remove the hard drive (see

7. Remove the keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 65).
Remove the primary memory module:
1. Spread the retaining tabs (1) on each side of the primary memory module slot to release the
primary memory module. (The edge of the module opposite the slot rises away from
the computer.)
2. Remove the primary memory module (2) by pulling the module away from the slot at an angle.
NOTE: Memory modules are designed with a notch (3) to prevent incorrect installation into the
primary memory module slots.
Reverse this procedure to install a primary memory module.
Expansion memory module
NOTE: Expansion memory slots are located in a compartment on the bottom of the computer.
A computer having a system board with spare part number 652508-001 or 655024-001 has two
memory slots, which are called primary memory slots in this MSG. When you add or replace memory
modules, slot 1 must be populated before slot 2 is populated.
A computer having a system board with spare part number 652509-001 or 655025-001 has four
memory slots. On these computers, in both the expansion memory slots (on the bottom of the
computer) and the primary memory slots (under the keyboard), slot 1 must be populated before slot 2
is populated.
