MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Battery
WARNING
Improperly connecting or disconnecting battery cables can cause
sparks which could result in an explosion, causing serious injury or
death. When removing the battery , always disconnect the negative
(black) cable first. When reinstalling the battery , always connect the
negative (black) cable last.
Battery Removal
1. Place the transmission in gear.
2. Lock the mechanical parking
brake.
3. Disconnect the battery hold-down strap. R emove the battery cover.
4. Disconnect the black negative (--) cable first.
5. Disconnect the red positive (+) cable last.
6. Lift and remove the battery.
Battery Installation
Always install a fully charged battery. See page 97.
1. Place the battery in the battery holder.
2. Verify that cables are routed properly.
3. Connect the red positive (+) cable first.
4. Connect the black negative (--) cable last.
5. Install the battery cover.
6. Attach the hold-down strap.
