When you have selected GPRS as a data bearer, the device uses EGPRS instead of
GPRS if it is available in the network. You cannot select between EGPRS and GPRS
in your device, but for some applications, you may be able to select either GPRS or
GSM data [CSD—circuit switched data] as the data bearer. The data bearer is part
of the preferred access point and can be changed in Configuration settings [see
”Configuration settings” on page 90].
The applications that may use GPRS are MMS, instant messaging, browsing
sessions, e-mail, remote SyncML, Java application downloading, and the PC
dial-up [for example, Internet and e-mail].
Before you can use GPRS technology, contact your service provider for availability
of and subscription to the GPRS service and save the GPRS settings for each of the
applications used over GPRS.
