Instant messages (Chat)
Instant messaging (Chat) is a way of sending short, simple text messages that are
delivered over TCP/IP protocols to online users (network service). Your contact list
shows you when the contacts on the list are online and available to participate in
an instant messaging conversation.
Before you can use instant messaging, you need to subscribe to the service. For
availability, charging and subscription to the service, contact your service
provider, from whom you also receive your unique ID and password and the
settings for instant messaging. For required settings, see Instant messaging
settings on page 65. The icons and texts on the display may vary depending on the
instant messaging service.
You can use the other functions of the phone while you have an active instant
messaging session in the background.
Instant messaging uses shared memory, see Shared memory on page 15.
