to keep the battery between 41° and 95°F (5°
and 35°C). A phone with a battery that is too hot
or too cold might not work, even when the bat-
tery is fully charged, until the battery returns to
a normal temperature. Nickel metal hydride
(NiMH) batteries are particularly limited in tem-
peratures below 14°F (–10°C).
Use the battery only for its intended purpose.
Never use any charger or battery that is dam-
aged or worn out.
Do not short circuit the battery. Accidental short
circuiting can occur when a metal object (coin,
paper clip, pen, or similar) directly connects the
battery’s + and – terminals (the metal strips on
the back of the battery), such as when you car-
ry a spare battery in your pocket or purse. Short
circuiting the terminals might damage the bat-
tery or the object connected to it.
Do not dispose of batteries in a fire!
Nickel Cadmium and Nickel Metal
Hydride batteries must be recycled
or disposed of properly. They must
not be disposed of in municipal
waste.
