Fuser is in a maintenance state and needs to be
replaced before any other action can be taken.
Replace fuser assembly (see “Fuser assembly
removal” on page 4-9) and note whether any error
code exists.
Note: Fuser is a customer-order supply.

Indicates that printhead laser output is low.
Go to “930,931,932—Laser unit assembly service
check” on page 2-62.

Beam detector error
(BDT)
Indicates that printhead laser scanning beam is not
detected by the beam sensor.

check” on page 2-62.

Scanner motor error
(SM)
Indicates abnormal rotation of printhead scanner
motor.
Go to “930,931,932—Laser unit assembly service
check” on page 2-62.

RIP to engine
communication
Indicates that the RIP board processor cannot
communicate with processor. Remove and reinstall
RIP board. Go to “RIP board removal” on
page 4-45. Ensure RIP board makes proper
connection with engine controller board connector.
Ensure engine controller board is properly installed.
If error persists, replace RIP board. If error still
persists, replace engine controller board. See
“Engine controller board removal” on page 4-55.

Turn power off and then back on.
