The groups are registered via a URL address. A user registers the group
URL in the network by initially joining the group meeting.
There are three types of PTT groups:
• Provided groups are closed groups to whom only the participants
selected by the provider are admitted.
• Ad hoc groups are groups which the user himself can create. You can
create your own group and invite members to join it.
• Ad hoc groups can also be comprised of members from a provided
group. A company could maintain a closed group, for example, and
additionally set up other internal groups for specific corporate func-
tions.
Adding a group
Select
Menu > Push-to-talk > Add group. Select one of the following
options:
• Managed, to add a new group. To specify the security level of the
group, select
Public group or Private group. When Private group is
selected, the telephone automatically creates an encrypted portion of
the group address, which is not visible to the members when they
receive an invitation to the group. Only the person who creates the
private group can invite additional members to this group. Enter the
name of the group. Select
Standard, Monitor or Inactive. The telephone
shows that the group and its status are saved. Standard and Monitor
are active groups. When you activate the PTT button to place a group
call, the standard group is called up, unless you scroll to another group
on another entry. To send an invitation to the group, select Yes when
requested to do so by the telephone. You can send the invitation as a
short message or via IR.
The members whom you invite to public groups can themselves invite
other members to the group.
Manual, to join an existing group. Enter the group address. Select
Standard, Monitor or Inactive. The telephone shows that the group and
its status are saved. Standard and Monitor are active groups. When you
activate the PTT button to place a group call, the standard group is
called up, unless you scroll to another group or another entry.
Receiving an invitation
1. If you receive an invitation to a group via a short message, the message
Group invitation received.:. ... is displayed.
