Using GPRS
You can send a text message using GPRS as the access type. For
more details, please check with your network operator.
To select GPRS as the access type
1. Make sure you have created a data account and selected
GPRS&GSM as the preferred service. See “Data Account Settings”
on page 66 and “GPRS and GSM Data Settings” on page 68.
2. Scroll to Settings,
YES, Data comm., YES, SMS access, YES.
3. Select GPRS preferred and press
YES.
Message Options
You can create the settings below as default for all your messages,
or you can turn on the option Set on send, which means that you
choose the settings each time you send a message.
• Message type
You can select how you want your text message to be interpreted
by the recipient, for example, as a text message, or as a fax or
e-mail message.
• Validity period
If your message cannot be delivered because the recipient has
turned off the phone, your service centre can save the message
to send it later, within a certain time period.
• Request reply
If you want the recipient of your message to reply, you can turn on
the Request reply option. You are usually charged for the reply.
Please contact your network operator for details. When you send
a message, you are asked whether you want the recipient to reply
or not.
• Status request
With this option on, you can view the status of a sent message.

To set a default value for the options above
1. Scroll to Messages,
YES, Options, YES, SMS, YES.
2. Select the option you want and press
YES.
3. Select Set default and press
YES.
4. Select your default value from the list and press
YES.
To turn Set on send on or off
1. Scroll to Messages,
YES, Options, YES, SMS, YES.
2. Select the option you want and press
YES.
3. Select Set on send and press
YES.
4. Select On or Off and press
YES.
