Short Text Messages
You can receive, display, edit and send short text messages, of up to
160 characters to mobile phones on the same network or any
network that has a roaming agreement.
Setting the Phone for Text Messages
Before you can send a message you must enter the Message Centre
number into Parameters (your Service Provider can supply the
Message Centre number). If the Message Centre number has been
pre-programmed on your SIM, press B.
Setting the Message Centre Number
1 From Idle mode press B 353 to access the Message
Centre menu
2 Enter message centre number in international dial format – see
“International Dialing” page 7.
Sending a Text Message
1 From Idle mode press B33to enter
the Create menu and press B
2 Enter the message (up to 160 characters) –
see “Text Entry” page 43 and press B
You are prompted to send the message. If you do
not want to send the message press C and the message is stored
in the Send List.
3 Press B and enter the destination phone number (or recall a
number from the Phonebook (A) - see “Retrieve/Edit
Phonebook Entries” page12 and press B
You may be prompted for delivery confirmation. If you do not want
confirmation press A. If you do, press B.
The default for delivery confirmation can be set using the Report
parameter in the Parameters menu.
