EU/EEA-Wide Guarantee: Conditions applicable in any country other than the country
of original purchase.
A When thepurchaserfindsthe appliancetobedefective, heshouldpromptlycontact the
propersales companyornationaldistributor intheEU/EEAcountry wherethis
guaranteeis claimed,asindicatedin the“ProductServiceGuide” orthenearest
authorizeddealer togetherwiththisguarantee andproofofdate ofpurchase.
Thepurchaser willthenbeinformed whether:
(i) thesales companyornationaldistributor willhandletherepair service:or
(ii) thesales companyornationaldistributor willarrangefortrans-shipment ofthe
applianceto theEU/EEAcountrywhere theappliancewasoriginally marketed;or
(iii) thepurchasermay himselfsendtheappliance tothesalescompany ornational
distributorin theEU/EEAcountrywhere theappliancewasoriginally marketed.
B If theapplianceisa productmodelwhichis normallysuppliedbythe salescompanyor
nationaldistributor inthecountrywhere itisusedby thepurchaser,thenthe appliance,
togetherwith thisguaranteecardand proofofdateof purchase,shouldbereturned at
thepurchaser’s riskandexpenseto suchsalescompanyor distributor,whichwill
handlethe repairservice.Insome countries,theaffiliatedsales companyornational
distributorwill designatedealersorcertain servicecentrestoexecute therepairs
involved.
C Iftheappliance isaproductmodel whichisnotnormally suppliedinthecountry where
used,or iftheappliance’sinternal orexternalproductcharacteristics aredifferentfrom
thoseof theequivalentmodelin thecountrywhereused, thesalescompanyor national
distributormay beabletohave theguaranteerepairservice executedbyobtaining
spareparts fromthecountrywhere theappliancewasoriginally marketed,oritmay be
necessaryto havetheguaranteerepair serviceexecutedthesales companyornational
distributorin thecountrywherethe appliancewasoriginallymarketed.
Ineither case,thepurchasermust furnishthisguaranteecard andproofofdate of
purchase.Any necessarytransportation,bothof theapplianceandof anyspareparts,
willbe atthepurchaser’srisk andexpense,andthere maybeaconsequent delayinthe
repairservice.
D Wheretheconsumer sendstheappliancefor repairtothesales companyornational
distributorin thecountryofuse oftheappliance,the servicewillbeprovided onthe
samelocal termsandconditions(including theperiodofguarantee coverage)asprevail
forthe samemodelappliancein thecountryofuse, andnotthecountry ofinitialsalein
theEU/EEA. Wherethe consumersendstheappliance forrepairtothe salescompany
ornational distributorintheEU/EEA countrywheretheappliance wasoriginally
marketed,the repairservicewillbe providedonthelocal termsandconditions
prevailingin thecountryofinitial saleintheEU/EEA.
E Some productmodelsrequireadjustment oradaptationforproper performanceand
safeuse indifferentEU/EEAcountries, inaccordancewithlocal voltagerequirements
andsafety orothertechnicalstandards imposedorrecommendedby applicable
regulations.For certainproductmodels,the costofsuchadjustment oradaptationmay
besubstantial anditmaybe difficulttosatisfylocal voltagerequirementsandsafety or
othertechnical standards.Itisstrongly recommendedthatthepurchaser investigates
theselocal technicalandsafetyfactors beforeusingtheappliance inanotherEU/EEA
country.
F This guaranteeshallnotcover thecostofany adjustmentsoradaptationsto meetlocal
voltagerequirements andsafetyorother technicalstandards.Thesales companyor
nationaldistributor maybeina positiontomakethe necessaryadjustmentsor
adaptationsto certainproductmodelsat thecostofthe purchaser.However,for
technicalreasons itisnotpossible toadjustoradapt allproductmodelsto complywith
localvoltage requirementsandsafetyor othertechnicalstandards.Moreover, where
adaptationsor adjustmentsarecarriedout theperformanceofthe appliancemaybe
affected.
G Ifin theopinionofthe salescompanyornational distributorinthecountry wherethe
applianceis usedthepurchaserhas thenecessaryadjustmentsor adaptationstolocal
voltagerequirements andtechnicalorsafety standardsproperlymade,any subsequent
guaranteerepair servicewillbeprovided asaboveindicated,provided thepurchaser
disclosesthe natureoftheadjustment oradaptationifrelevant totherepair.(It is
recommendedthat thepurchasershouldnot sendadaptedoradjusted equipmentfor
repairto thesalescompanyor nationaldistributorinthe countrywheretheappliance
wasoriginally marketediftherepair relatesinanyway totheadaptationor adjustment).
H Thisguaranteeshall onlybevalidin territoriessubjecttothe lawsoftheEuropean
Unionand theEEA.
