56 Setting Up Mobile Internet
Setting Up Mobile Internet
In order to use the Internet, browse via WAP
services, or send and receive email messages,
you must have a phone subscription that
supports data transmission and you must have
settings entered.
Receiving settings in an SMS message
Your Internet service provider may be able to send the
required data account, WAP, and email settings directly
to your phone in a text message (SMS).
Advanced setting information
Mobile Internet, including WAP and email, requires
the following settings:
Data Accounts – settings for access to a server for
email messaging.
WAP Profile – settings for WAP browsing.
Email Account – settings for email messaging.
Data account settings
You can have several data accounts saved in
your phone, with different settings for different
purposes. The main setting for a data account is the
Account Type (connection method). You can choose
from
GPRS or DialUp Conn. account types.
GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) allows
fast and efficient access to web content.
Note!
Contact your service provider for the default
settings that will work with your specific
service.
Note!
Your service provider may have programmed
your WAP settings. If so, you will not need
to configure your phone.
Note!
Contact your service provider for details on any
data usage charges.
Note!
You need a subscription that supports GPRS.
Contact your service provider for settings and
useful information.
