To remove the data
cable
1 Turn off the external device to which the base unit is connected and/or the
NURIT 8000 terminal.
2 Detach the plug from the external device.
3 Detach the plug from the data port on the bottom of the terminal.
4 Turn on the NURIT 8000 terminal.
External Modem
Connection
The External Modem is an optional accessory that has model dependent
connection capabilities. You can use the high-speed modem to download
applications and parameters to the NURIT 8000 via a standard telephone line. For
more information, see Features at a Glance.

To connect the
external modem
1 Connect the modem’s data plug into the data port on the front panel of the
NURIT 8000 terminal.
2 Connect a standard telephone line cord from the modem to a standard RJ-11
type modular telephone line outlet.

To disconnect the
external modem
1 Disconnect the modem’s data plug from the data port on the front panel of the
NURIT 8000 terminal.
2 Disconnect the standard telephone line from the telephone outlet.
CAUTION
Do not disconnect the NURIT 8000 from an external device when it is processing
data.
