There must be no obstructions be-
tween the two communicating de-
vices.
The IR ports of the two devices
must point at each other.
Receiving data via the
IR port
To receive data from another compat-
ible phone:
1. Ensure that the two phones are
ready for the IR connection.
2. Select the Infrared menu to acti-
vate the IR port for data reception.
3. The user of the sending phone se-
lects the desired IR function to
start data transfer.
If data transfer is not started within 2
minutes after the activation of the IR
port, the connection is cancelled and
will have to be started again.
Sending data via the IR
port
You can send data to a compatible
phone or PC provided with an appro-
priate application.
Refer to the documentation supplied
with the application and to the fol-
lowing section in this user’s guide.
You can:
Send a graphic via IR. See ‘Caller
groups’.
Copy and print names and num-
bers from Phone Book. See ‘Copy-
ing and printing via IR’.
Print a text message on a compat-
ible printer. See ‘Reading a text
message (Menu 1-1)’.
Send a calendar note via IR. See
‘Calendar (Menu 8)’.
Print a calendar note on a compati-
ble printer. See ‘Calendar (Menu 8)’.
PRINTING OF ME-
SSAGES VIA IR
The “Printing of messages via IR to a
compatible printer” feature is available
when the Language (under Settings/
Phone Settings) selected, uses Latin
characters for writing. When Simpli-
fied Chinese or Traditional Chinese
language is selected, the printing of
messages via IR is disabled and you
cannot print any message, whether us-
ing Latin or Chinese characters.
Checking the status of
an IR connection
The status of an IR connection is indi-
cated by .
When is displayed continuously,
there is an IR connection between
your phone and the other device.
When is not displayed, no IR
connection exists.
