Whenthepurchaser findstheappliance tobedefective, heshouldpromptly
contacttheproper salescompanyor nationaldistributorin theEU/EEA
countrywherethis guaranteeisclaimed, asindicatedin the“Product
ServiceGuide”or thenearestauthorised dealertogetherwith this
guaranteeandproof ofdateof purchase.Thepurchaser willthenbe
informedwhether:
(I) thesalescompany ornationaldistributor willhandlethe repairservice:
or
(ii) thesales companyornational distributorwill arrangefor
trans-shipmentofthe appliancetothe EU/EEAcountrywhere the
appliancewasoriginally marketed;or
(iii) thepurchasermayhimself sendtheappliance tothesales companyor
nationaldistributorin theEU/EEAcountry wheretheappliance was
originallymarketed.
Iftheappliance isaproduct modelwhichis normallysuppliedby thesales
companyornational distributorinthe countrywhereit isusedby the
purchaser,thenthe appliance,togetherwith thisguaranteecard andproof
ofdateof purchase,shouldbe returnedatthe purchaser’sriskand
expensetosuch salescompanyor distributor,whichwill handletherepair
service.Insome countries,theaffiliated salescompanyor national
distributorwilldesignate dealersorcertain servicecentresto executethe
repairsinvolved.
Iftheappliance isaproduct modelwhichis notnormallysupplied inthe
countrywhereused, orifthe appliance’sinternalor externalproduct
characteristicsaredifferent fromthoseof theequivalentmodel inthe
countrywhereused, thesalescompany ornationaldistributor maybeable
tohavethe guaranteerepairservice executedbyobtaining spareparts
fromthecountry wheretheappliance wasoriginallymarketed, oritmay be
necessarytohave theguaranteerepair serviceexecutedthe sales
companyornational distributorinthe countrywherethe appliancewas
originallymarketed.
Ineithercase, thepurchasermust furnishthisguarantee cardandproof of
dateofpurchase. Anynecessarytransportation, bothofthe applianceand
ofanyspare parts,willbe atthepurchaser’s riskandexpense, andthere
maybea consequentdelayin therepairservice.
Wheretheconsumer sendstheappliance forrepairto thesalescompany
ornationaldistributor inthecountry ofuseof theappliance,the servicewill
beprovidedon thesamelocal termsandconditions (includingtheperiod of
guaranteecoverage)as prevailforthe samemodelappliance inthe
countryofuse, andnotthe countryofinitial saleinthe EU/EEA.Wherethe
consumersendsthe applianceforrepair tothesales companyornational
distributorinthe EU/EEAcountrywhere theappliancewas originally
marketed,therepair servicewillbe providedonthe localtermsand
conditionsprevailingin thecountryof initialsalein theEU/EEA.
Someproductmodels requireadjustmentor adaptationforproper
performanceandsafe useindifferent EU/EEAcountries,in accordance
withlocalvoltage requirementsandsafety orothertechnical standards
imposedorrecommended byapplicableregulations. Forcertainproduct
models,thecost ofsuchadjustment oradaptationmay besubstantialand it
maybedifficult tosatisfylocal voltagerequirementsand safetyorother
technicalstandards.It isstronglyrecommended thatthepurchaser
investigatestheselocal technicalandsafety factorsbeforeusing the
applianceinanother EU/EEAcountry.
Thisguaranteeshall notcoverthe costofany adjustmentsoradaptations
tomeetlocal voltagerequirementsand safetyorother technicalstandards.
Thesalescompany ornationaldistributor maybein apositionto makethe
necessaryadjustmentsor adaptationstocertain productmodelsat thecost
ofthepurchaser. However,fortechnical reasonsitis notpossibleto adjust
oradaptall productmodelsto complywithlocal voltagerequirementsand
safetyorother technicalstandards.Moreover, whereadaptationsor
adjustmentsarecarried outtheperformance oftheappliance maybe
affected.
Ifinthe opinionofthe salescompanyor nationaldistributorin thecountry
wheretheappliance isusedthe purchaserhasthe necessaryadjustments
oradaptationsto localvoltagerequirements andtechnicalor safety
standardsproperlymade, anysubsequentguarantee repairservicewill be
providedasabove indicated,providedthe purchaserdisclosesthe nature
oftheadjustment oradaptationif relevanttothe repair.(Itis recommended
thatthepurchaser shouldnotsend adaptedoradjusted equipmentfor
repairtothe salescompanyor nationaldistributorin thecountrywhere the
appliancewasoriginally marketedifthe repairrelatesin anywayto the
adaptationoradjustment).
Thisguaranteeshall onlybevalid interritoriessubject tothelaws ofthe
EuropeanUnionand theEEA.
