Making Direct Connect® calls

4. Press the Push to Talk™ (PTT) button. The Alert Sent dialog box
appears. When your contact receives the alert, the Alert
Successful dialog box appears.
Join a talk group
1. Click the Phone icon. The Phone screen appears.
2. With your cursor in the field at the top of the screen, type # and
then type the talk group number.
3. Click Join. The Joining Talkgroup dialog box appears. When
your handheld successfully joins the talk group, the Talkgroup
Joined dialog box appears.
Make a Direct Connect® or Group Connect™ call
1. Click the Phone icon. The Phone screen appears.
2. Select one of the following options:
• To make a Direct Connect® call, type a DC# in the format
AreaID*NetworkID*MemberID.
• To make a Group Connnect™ call, type # and then type the
number of a talk group that you have joined.
3. Press the PTT™ button. The handheld beeps and the call is
made.
4. Press and hold the PTT™ button to speak to your contact or
group.
5. Release the PTT™ button to listen to your contact or group.
Tip: To send an alert to a contact or DC# number that is listed on the Phone
or Address Book screen, click the contact. A menu appears. Click Alert. The
Ready to Alert Dialog box appears. Press the PTT™ button.
