Cleaning Schedule
3. M oisten an ap plicator tip with a solv ent containing 90% iso propyl alcohol, and wipe al ong
the print elements from end to end. (The print elements are on the brown strip just behind
the chrome strip on the printhead.) Allow a few seconds for the solvent to evaporate.
4. Rotate the platen roller and clean thoroughly with solvent and an applicator.
5. Brush/vacuum any accumulated paper lint and dust away from the rollers.
6. Reload the media and th e ribbon (if required).
7. Close the printh ead.
Sensors
The media, ribbon, and label available sensors should be cleaned on a regular basis to ensure
proper operation of the printer. Brush or vacuum any accumulated paper lint and dust off of
these sensors.
Snap Plate
Clean the snap plate to remove label adhesive or a label that has adhered to the underside of
the snap plate.
1. Re fe r to Figure 42. Insert a small-blade screwdrive r or similar tool into the loop on the left
side of the snap plate. Lift the snap plate.

2. Repeat step 1 on the right side of the snap plate.
3. Remove the snap plate from the printer.
4. Clean the snap plate with cleaning solvent and a soft cloth.
5. Re fer to Figure 43. T o reinstall the snap plate, insert the two tabs on the bottom of the snap
plate into the two slots of the media pathway.
Caution • Do not bend, twist, or otherwise deform the loops. If the snap plate is
damaged in any way, a new plate may be required for proper ribbon sensing.
