Unlocking the keypad
The KP199 can be locked
automatically after a period of time
to prevent an accidental press of
any buttons. Refer to the Security
setup in the Settings menu to learn
how to lock the keypad (see Auto
Keypad Lock on page
88).
To unlock the keypad, follow the
below steps:
1. When the phone is in the idle
status, the Unlock option
appears in the lower right corner
of the screen.
2. Press the
>
right soft key
followed by the
*
key to unlock
the keypad. The keypad is then
unlocked.

key on this locks the
keypad.
Idle Status
When your phone is turned on but
not in use, it is in the idle status. In
the idle status, the screen displays
Menu at the lower left corner of the
screen and Contacts at the lower
right corner of the screen.
Press Menu to enter the main menu
or press Contacts to enter contacts
list. Indicators also appear on the
upper part of the screen.
The indicators in the idle status are
as follows:
Vertical bars indicate the
signal strength of the GSM
network signal. Five bars
indicate that your current
position has the best
reception.
Indicates the battery charge
level.
Indicates your phone uses
the general profile settings.
