8.2.2 WLAN Access Setup
You can set up the access to WLAN via any broadband access device (DSL,
Cable, or company LAN) as long as the network is reliable.
- SSID: (Service Set Identifier) the name of the network, it is expressed by
the alphanumeric characters.
a) Set SSID by site survey
1. Press Menu > WLAN > WLAN settings > Edit act. settings > SSID &
security > SSID > Site survey
The display shows a list of all APs which are found nearby with good signal
strength.
2. Select the AP’s SSID
b) Set SSID manually
1. Press Menu > WLAN > WLAN settings > Edit act. settings > SSID &
security > SSID > Manual
2. Input SSID in the SSID edit window
- Security Setting: for WLAN security and encryption setting
a) Set security
1. Press Menu > WLAN > WLAN settings > Edit act. settings > SSID &
security > SSID > Security
The display shows the security items to be set.
Open:= It sets no encryption.
WEP:= WEP encryption, for WEP key settings. The key must be entered in
hexadecimal or ASCII format: A-F and 0-9. On the right top corner, a counter
decrements and reaches zero as all characters have been entered.
Information:
Activate the WLAN network only when it has searched AP/Routers in the
wireless area. This would save your consumption of battery power.
