What is “MagicGate”?
“MagicGate” is a copyright protection technology for “MagicGate
Memory Stick” and compliant products, such as this mobile phone.
Authentication ensures that protected content is transferred only between
compliant devices and “MagicGate Memory Stick,” and that protected
content is recorded and transferred in an encrypted format to prevent
unauthorized copying or playback.
Note
is terminology denoting the copyright protection system developed
by Sony. It does not guarantee conversion among other media.
Formatting the “MagicGate Memory Stick”
The “MagicGate Memory Stick” is shipped with a FAT (File Allocation
Table) as the standard format.
To format the “MagicGate Memory Stick,” please use devices compatible
with the “MagicGate Memory Stick.” When using this mobile phone,
please follow the instructions in “Format stick” on page 92 to format the
“MagicGate Memory Stick.”
Handling the “MagicGate Memory Stick”
You can use a “MagicGate Memory Stick” with a capacity of up to
128MB with this mobile phone.
Only a “MagicGate Memory Stick” marked with the logo can be
used.
Do not touch the “MagicGate Memory Stick” connector with your finger
or metallic objects.
To avoid damaging data, do not
release the “MagicGate Memory Stick” or unplug the AC power
adaptor during reading or writing of data.
remove the battery pack during reading or writing of data.
use the “MagicGate Memory Stick” in a location subject to static
electricity or electric noise.
When the “MagicGate Memory Stick” erasure prevention switch is set to
“LOCK,” data cannot be recorded, erased or edited.
