3. Make calls
When the device is locked, calls still may be possible to the official emergency number programmed into your device.
In the offline profile, you may need to enter the lock code and change the device to a calling profile before making any call,
including a call to an emergency number.
To make and receive calls, the device must be switched on and have a valid SmartChip installed, and you must be located in a
service area of the cellular network. The GPRS connection is put on hold during voice calls unless the network supports dual
transfer mode.
Enter the phone number, including the area code, and press the call key. If you enter an incorrect character, press the backspace
key. You may begin dialing a number from the active idle mode, as shown in the picture.

Vanity dial
Vanity dialing allows you to substitute letters with numbers. The letters are used in conjunction with numbers to place a call.
An example is 1-800-XXXXXXX.
Both alphabetic letters and numbers are available after the first number is entered.
1. Dial the numeric characters that begin the number.
2. Dial the alphabetic characters of the number.
To dial an alphabetic character, press and hold the chr key, then the alphabetic key.
When you dial a number in vanity dialing mode, both numbers and alphabetic characters will be displayed, as you dial them.
In Address Book and call log, numbers will appear numeric only, even they were created using the vanity dialing feature.
To enter data during an active call, press the number keys to enter numbers. To enter alphabetic characters, press and hold the
chr key then the alphabetic key, for each letter.
