1.1.3 Ring tone
The phone is preset with several built-in ring tones. For information on setting ring tones, please
refer to chapter 5.4.
1.1.4 General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)
GPRS is a method of data transmission. It enables users to have wireless access to the Internet and
other data networks through a GSM system. Using GPRS, a user can send and receive data using
IP (Internet Protocol) based networks. The application that uses GPRS includes WAP service and
multimedia messaging service.
Please note the following when using GPRS:
♦ For information on services provided by GPRS and its application method, please refer to
chapter 7.13.1 or consult your service provider.
♦ Configure the appropriate settings before using GPRS. For related information please refer
to chapter 5.13.2.
♦ For information on the price of GPRS services, please refer to chapter 7.13.2 or consult

1.1.5 Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
WLAN is a broadband wireless technology standardized by the IEEE 802.11 working group.
When using WLAN with the HiPi phone, please note the following:
♦ For information on the services provided by WLAN and their applications, please consult
your service provider.
♦ The WLAN setting in the phone should be configured properly before use. For detailed
information, please refer to chapter 5.13.2.
♦ For information on the pricing of WLAN services, please consult your service provider.
1.1.6 VoIP
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the technology foundation for Internet telephony and a wealth
of other services. Its biggest advantage is the utilization of the Internet to provide world wide
connectivity at a very low cost. VoIP can be used to transmit voice, fax, video and data, such as
uniform messaging, virtual telephone, virtual voice/fax mailbox, number query, Internet call center,
Internet call management, TV meeting, fax storage and forwarding.
