6 Using Your Phone as a Walkie-Talkie
2USING YOUR PHONE AS A WALKIE-TALKIE
You can use your KX440 Series phone with
BREWChat
TM
like a walkie-talkie radio.
The BREWChat feature allows you to quickly
communicate with an individual or group
of individuals.
Note: Your phone may not be compatible with
walkie-talkie phones from other service
providers. Contact your service provider for
more information.
Phone position
For best results, hold the phone facing you with
the mouthpiece at least one inch (2.5 cm) away
from your mouth.
BREWChat call types
You can make and receive two types of
BREWChat calls:
•A
direct call automatically connects to an
individual, a group, or a chat room.
Recipients do not have the option to ignore
the call. The receiving party hears a beep and
your voice through their speakerphone.
•An
invite sends a text message to an
individual, who then has the option to answer
or ignore the invite before a conversation
begins. You can send an invite to a saved
individual BREWChat contact only. To save a
BREWChat contact, see page 12.
BREWChat screens
You use the BREWChat screens to place direct
calls, send invites, and save BREWChat contacts
and groups.

walkie-talkie button once or select
