You can call into a chat room to join a
scheduled call, but participants cannot add
members to the call or modify the chat room
members. To sign up for chat rooms, contact
your service provider.
Selecting items
Selecting items within the BREWChat screens is
slightly different from selecting items in the
phone’s other menus.
When choices (such as
Options and Exit) appear at
the bottom of the screen, press to select one
on the left or press to select one on the right.
When a white menu pops up and covers part of the
screen, press to scroll through the menu. Press
to select an item or to exit the menu.
Walkie-talkie calling basics
On a BREWChat call, only one person can
speak at a time.
When you press the walkie-talkie button to start
or answer a call, a tone sounds and the text “Talk
now” appears to indicate the audio path is ready
and the other party’s phone is available.
1. After you hear the tone or see “Talk now,”
continue to press the walkie-talkie button as
you speak.
2. Release the walkie-talkie button to allow other
participants to reply.
When the other parties have finished
speaking, a tone sounds and “Press to talk”
appears on the screen.
3. Press the walkie-talkie button to speak again.
Note: If you see the message
“No one is listening” when you press the
walkie-talkie button, all other parties have
stopped participating.
4. To stop participating in a call, press or
. The other participants remain in the call.
Note: A call will end automatically if
all participants’ phones are idle for a
specific amount of time set by your
service provider’s network.
Calling an individual
You can place a direct BREWChat call to an
individual who also has BREWChat service from
your service provider.
You can call an individual in several ways:
• Enter a phone number.
• Select a contact saved in the BREWChat
Contacts list.
• Select a contact saved in your phone’s
Contacts directory.
• Select a recent call from the BREWChat Calls list.
Note: The BREWChat Contacts list and the
phone’s Contacts directory are two different lists.
To save a BREWChat contact, see “Saving and
editing contacts and groups” on page 12. To save
a contact in your phone’s Contacts directory, see
“Saving a contact entry” on page 26.
