Entering Text
Selecting a Text Input Mode
Yourphone provides convenient ways to enterwords,
letters, numbers, and symbols wheneveryou are
prompted to entertext (forexample, when adding a
Contacts entry orwhen using Sprint Mail and SMS Text
Messaging).
1. From a screen where you can entertext, press Mode
(right softkey)to change the text input mode.
2. Select one of the following options:
T9 Word to entertext using a predictive text system
that reduces the numberof keypresses required
while entering a word. (See page 28.)
Alphabet to entercharacters by using the Alphabet
mode. (See page 29.)
SYMBOL to entersymbols. (See page 30.)
SMILEYS to entersmile icons. (See page 30.)
Emoticons to enter“emoticons.”(See page 30.)
Web Shortcut to enter Web shortcuts (forexample,
www., http://, or.com).
Preset Msgs to enterpreset messages. (See pages
30 and 114.)
Recent Msgs to entermessages used recently.
PasteList to paste copied orcut text (if applicable).
From To Do to use words you added in your
Calendaras To Do.
NUMBER to enternumbers.
Signature to enteryoursignature. (See page 41.)
Select Lang. to select the language (English or
Spanish).
Delete All to delete all text (if applicable).
SelectText to select stored text for copying orcutting
(if applicable).
Add Word to store words that you frequently use.

Text Options to display the Text Entry settings menu.
(See page 31.)
Note
The menus displayed vary according to the entry
field. If you see triangles on the right ofthe menu,
you can press the right and left navigation keys to
switch between related menus.
