Exporting to CSV
Exporting a view to Comma Separated Value (.csv) format lets you view or store data
in a text-based format for downloading, printing, or viewing in a spreadsheet. You
can export data in CSV format by clicking the
View CSV Version icon located above
the selector pane. This gives you two options:
Download the file and save it in CSV format.
Download the file and open it in an Excel-based spreadsheet within a separate
browser window, as illustrated in Figure 32.
To download the file and save it, select the
Save this file to disk option icon on the File
Download dialog box. To open the file in Excel, select the
Open this file from its current
location
option icon.
NOTE
You can display both Excel (.xls) and Comma Separated Value (.csv) files as Excel
spreadsheets, however the format of each file is different. Internet Explorer settings
automatically import CSV and XLS files into Excel. However, CSV files let you download the
file and save it, without having to do so through Excel.
