4. Basic Functions
Making a Call
1With the phone switched on, key in the
area code and phone number by using
the - keys.
• International calls
If you key in a + character (press
twice within one second) in
front of the country code you don’t
need to worry about the interna-
tional access code.
• Editing the phone number
Use , and Clear for editing.
You can remove all the characters at
once by pressing or by pressing
and holding Clear. For details, see
”Keying in a Phone Number” on
page 21.
• Saving the phone number in
Phone book
Press Save, key in the associated
name, and press OK. For details, see
”Keying in a Name” on page 20.
• Recalling a phone number from
Phone book: See page 22.
2Press call the number.
3Wait for the answer and speak.
• Adjusting the earpiece volume
Use the keys on the side of the
phone. The upper key increases and
the lower key decreases the volume.
The volume can be adjusted also
when no call is in progress.
• Muting the phone’s microphone
Press Options, scroll with or
to Mute, and press Select.
To unmute the microphone, press
Unmute. Or: Press Options,
scroll to Unmute, and press
Select.

OTE: Muting and unmuting also
affects the microphone of any ac-
cessory connected to the phone.
4After the conversation, end the call by
pressing .
NOTE: When you are using the phone with
the car kit CARK-91, you can switch from
handsfree mode to privacy mode by pick-
ing up the external handset HSU-1.
To switch back to handsfree, first press
Menu and then put down the handset
within 15 seconds.
Calling any of the ten last
dialled phone numbers
To call the last dialled number, press
twice (with the display clear).
To call one of the ten last dialled numbers:
Press (with the display clear), reach
with or the desired number or asso-
ciated name, and press again.
