DTMF Tones
The phone can send DTMF tones to com-
municate with answering machines, com-
puterised telephony services etc.
The tones can be sent even when the key-
pad tones are set off.
Manual transmission
Make a call to the desired phone number
and key in the numbers that you want to
send as DTMF tones.
Automatic transmission
Start a call in the normal way. Then, do as
follows: Press Options, scroll with or
to Send DTMF, and press Select.
Key in the DTMF sequence or recall it from
Phone book, and press OK to send it.
Pressing Exit ends the DTMF transmis-
sion but not the call.
Placing pauses and waits in a DTMF
sequence
When keying in a DTMF sequence, you can
place pause and wait characters in front
of or between DTMF numbers.
For a pause of 2.5 seconds, press
three times quickly (p is displayed). When
sending the sequence, all numbers follow-
ing the pause(s) are sent as DTMF tones.
For a wait character, press four times
quickly (w is displayed).
To send a DTMF sequence which contains
wait characters:
1Start a DTMF call in the normal way.
2Press Send as many times as there are
wait characters. Numbers after the
waits are sent as DTMF tones.

OTE: Pause and wait characters cannot
be stored on some SIM cards.
Linking a phone number to a DTMF
sequence
You can link a phone number to a DTMF
sequence for sending them together.
1Key in a phone number or recall it from
Phone book.
2Press twice quickly (for +).
3Key in the number of the speed dialling
location that holds the DTMF sequence
(this step can be skipped) and store the
phone number in the internal Phone
book. See also ”Speed dialling” on page
24.
4Call the phone number in the normal
way.
Protection Cap of the
Antenna Connector
At the back of the phone below the an-
tenna there is a connector for an external
antenna.
