Enabling a Location source
Before you use Google Maps and find your location or search for places of interest, you must enable a location
source. To enable the location source you must enable the wireless network, or enable the GPS satellites.

From the
Enable GPS satellites
field, touch
On
to enable the GPS satellite, or
Off
to disable it.
Tip:
When using Google Maps you can turn on Enable GPS satellites. Selecting GPS satellites allows you to locate places of interest at
the street-level. However, this also requires a clear view of the sky and uses more battery power.
Opening Maps
1. From the Home page, open the Widget tray and touch the
Google Maps
widget.
2. Tap the
Google Maps
widget.
3. Press the key and select one of the following options:
•Search
: allows you to search for a place of interest.
•Directions
: displays navigation directions to a location from a starting point.
•Map mode
: allows you to switch map views:

Map
: This is the default view and displays a map, complete with names of streets, rivers, lakes, mountains, parks, and boundaries.

Satellite
: Maps uses the same satellite data as Google Earth. Satellite images are not real-time. Google Earth acquires the best imagery
available, most of which is approximately one to three years old.

Traff ic
: (available only in selected areas) Real-time traffic conditions are displayed over roads as color-coded lines. Each color represents
how fast the traffic is moving.
• My Location
: when touched, the location displays on the map with a blinking blue dot.
• Join Latitude
: lets you and your friends share locations and status messages with each other. It also lets you send instant
messages and emails, make phone calls, and get directions to your friends’ locations.

Clear Map
: after viewing or following directions, this option resets the map.

Terms, Privacy & Notices
: displays the Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, o r Legal Notices information. Select the desired
information from the pop-up menu.

About
: displays general information about Google maps such as Version, Platform, Locale, Total data sent, Total data received, Free
memory, etc.
