Turning your phone on and off
When your phone is on, it is connected to
your wireless service provider’s network
(provided you are in a coverage area) so
that you can make and receive phone calls
and use wireless services, such as email,
messaging, and the web browser. During
initial setup, your phone is automatically
turned on, so you can use wireless
services right away.
If you turn off your phone, you can still use
the organizer features such as Calendar
and Contacts, as well as the media
features such as Pocket Tunes and Pictures
& Videos. You might hear this referred to as
flight mode because you must turn your
phone off when you’re on a plane.
1 Wake up the screen.
2 Press and hold Power/End to
turn on your phone.
You know your phone is on and that
you’re inside a coverage area when you
go to the Main tab of the Phone
application and you see the Signal
Strength icon at the top of the
screen.
3 Press and hold Power/End
again to turn off your phone.
You know your phone is off when you
go to the Main tab of the Phone
application and you see Phone Off at
the top of the screen.
Opening the Phone application
Press Phone to display the Main tab in
the Phone application.
TIP
If the Ringer switch is in the Sound On
position, you hear a series of tones when you
turn your phone on and off (see Silencing
sounds).
TIP
If you’re outside a coverage area, No
Service appears in the upper-left corner and
the indicator light flashes red.
