To format a SD card
If you purchase a new SD card, you may need to format it before you
can use it with your phone. You can also format a SD card to erase its
contents.
1 Remove the previously-installed SD card, and then install the new
SD card. See “Storage card” on page 21 for details.
2 Press Home , press Menu, and touch Settings.
3 Touch SD card & phone storage.
4 Touch Unmount SD card. You can format a SD card only when it is
unmounted.
5 Touch Format SD card. On the screen that warns you that
formatting the SD card will erase its contents, touch Format SD
card.
