Signal strength is weak
Become familiar with low coverage areas
where you live, commute, work, and play.
Then you will know when to expect signal
strength issues. You can check signal
strength by looking at the signal-strength
icon in the title bar of the Phone
application’s
Main View. The stronger the
signal, the more bars that appear. If you are
outside a coverage area, no bars appear.
1 If you’re standing, move about ten feet
in any direction.
2 If you’re in a building, move near a
window. Open any metal blinds.
3 If you’re in a building, move outdoors or
to a more open area.
4 If you’re outdoors, move away from
large buildings, trees, or electrical wires.
5 If you’re in a vehicle, move your Treo
smartphone so that it’s level with a
window of your vehicle.
My smartphone won’t connect to the
mobile network
1 Contact your wireless service provider
to confirm that you have an active data
plan.
2 Try the suggestions about signal
strength described in Signal strength is
weak.
3 Turn off your phone and turn it on again
(see Turning your phone on and off
).
4 Perform a soft reset (see Performing a
soft reset).
The other person hears an echo
Try decreasing the volume on your Treo
smartphone to avoid coupling or
feedback on the other person’s end.
This applies to both the speakerphone
and the earpiece.
Position the earpiece closer to your ear
to prevent sound leaking back to the
microphone. Keep your hand away from
the microphone hole, which is on the
bottom right side of the smartphone.
