The component on your Windows
computer that enables you to install Palm
OS applications and other information on
your Treo smartphone.
Partnership
Two Bluetooth devices—for example, your
smartphone and a hands-free device—that
can connect because each device finds the
same passkey on the other device. Once
you form a partnership with a device, you
don’t need to enter a passkey to connect
with that device. Partnership is also known
as paired relationship, pairing, trusted
device, and trusted pair on some devices.
Phone
The application on your Treo smartphone
that enables you to make and receive
phone calls.
PIM (personal information manager)
A genre of software that includes
applications such as Palm Desktop
software, Microsoft
®
Outlook
®
, Lotus
Notes, ACT!, and the Palm OS organizer
applications on your smartphone. PIMs
generally store contacts, schedules, tasks,
and memos.
SMS (Short Messaging Service)
The service that exchanges short text
messages almost instantly. Text messages
are typically exchanged between mobile
phones. These messages can usually
include up to 160 characters; messages
with more than 160 characters are
automatically split into several messages.
Treo smartphones can send and receive
SMS messages while you are on a voice
call.
Streaming
Technology that enables you to access
media content—for example, watch a
video or listen to an audio program—
directly from the Internet on your
smartphone without needing to download
a file to save on your smartphone.
User folder
The folder on your computer that contains
the information you enter in Palm Desktop
software and the information you enter on
your smartphone and synchronize with
Palm Desktop software.
