• You can check the Wi-Fi icon on the Title bar of the screen to see if you are connected to
the Wi-Fi network. To see the status icons, see “Status Indicators” in Chapter 1.
• Wi-Fi connects to the default network that is available on your phone. However, GPRS/
EDGE starts by default if your phone does not detect any Wi-Fi signal.
• In Comm Manager, select Settings > Wi-Fi > Available Networks to check the current
connection status and signal quality of each Wi-Fi channel.
• To refresh the available network list, select Menu > Refresh.
• To view details on a network, select
Menu > View Detail.
To create a new Wi-Fi connection
If the Wi-Fi connection you want to connect to is not in the list, you can create a
new Wi-Fi connection.
1. On the Home screen, scroll down to
on the Shortcut Bar, and then select
Manage Connections.
2. Select
Settings > Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi Manager opens.
3. Select
Add New Network > Create Manually.
4. Enter the
SSID (Service Set Identier) and select the Network type.
5. Select
Next.
6. Select the
Authentication type and Data encryption.
Default settings are:
Authentication = Open ; Data Encryption = WEP
For TKIP, AES, or WEP data encryption, enter the needed information in the
remaining elds and then select
Next.
7. Select
Use IEEE 802.11x network access control to use Extensible
Authentication Protocol (EAP).
8. Select the
EAP type depending on the type of authentication and then select
Finish.
9. Enter a Prole Name if desired and select
Save. The connection is saved to
Saved Networks.
