Displaying Real-Time Indicators
Chapter 7 Managing and Viewing Indicators 211
When you start a Real-Time session, the PATROL DashBoard server begins polling
the selected objects. Shortly thereafter (20 seconds by default), the first values appear.
(Remember that PATROL DashBoard needs two polling cycles to compute and
display the first values.) The Real-Time session information is displayed in a separate
window from the other PATROL DashBoard data. You can have up to five Real-Time
sessions open simultaneously on a PATROL DashBoard server but only three Real-
Time sessions open on a single client computer.
The Real-Time mode records a total of 720 values for each indicator and displays 50 of
these values at any one time. You can scroll through all of the 720 values in the sliding
window.
To start a Real-Time session, right-click a device, interface, DLCI, VP, VC, peer, CoS,
or protocol. Choose
Actions => Real-Time. The Real Time manager window is
displayed, as shown in Figure 122:
Figure 122 Real Time Manager Window
Like the main PATROL DashBoard screen, the window contains a navigation pane on
the left, which shows the object and its subordinate objects. The section on the right
contains a graph for each indicator that the object has. The path to the object is shown
at the left in the title bar. You can use the drop-down list in the middle of the title bar
to select a sampling frequency for the graphs (5 seconds is the minimum; 10 seconds
is the default). The values are updated instantaneously at every polling cycle.
NOTE
The Real-Time mode polling does not affect the normal polling that is configured for
the object.
