Points to Watch Report
With this powerful feature, you can detect in advance the problems that are likely to
occur on your network, enabling you to plan the technical evolution of your network.
The Points to Watch report shows the most striking trends in the object indicators.
The
Long Term Trends section shows the most striking long-term trends out of all the
network indicators. These indicators are sorted according to their absolute value;
however, the positive and negative trends are shown separately. Each entry includes
the indicator’s type, the object to which it is related, and a 3-D graph that shows the
indicator values during the analysis period.
The
Time to Threshold section shows the indicators that will be the first to cross their
thresholds, based on long-term trends.
As shown in Figure 132 on page 255, the graphs give an immediate representation of
the indicator trends. Each bar represents the sliding average of the indicator values
over a whole week. The straight line through the indicator values (the trend line)
represents the average trend of the indicator values over time. The horizontal straight
line represents the alert threshold for this indicator. The cursor located at the right of
the graph adjusts the display scale.
PATROL DashBoard automatically filters out some entries judged as nonpertinent;
notably, excessive trends resulting from the erratic behavior of certain low-value
indicators.
NOTE
The Points to Watch report is not available until you have collected three months’
worth of data.
