Workload
Reported for any device
Description A network device transfers data in packets of variable sizes and routes or
switches each packet upon consulting its tables. The routing or switching
process requires the memory and CPU resources allocation for each packet
processed. Therefore, the device load designates the overall number of packets
processed per unit of time.
For a router, the maximum load depends on its model, its memory
configuration, and the complexity of its routing tables.
Units packets per second (pps)
Default
thresholds
none
Points to check underused: less than 10% of the router’s capacity
overused: more than 80% of the router’s capacity
