Top Talkers
The most active entities of a network or a domain as measured by an indicator. You specify the
number N of Top Talkers that you want to see reported.
ToS
See Type of Service (ToS).
Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)
The connection-oriented transport layer protocol of TCP/IP networks.
trap
An unsolicited SNMP message sent from a managed device to a manager to notify it of
unexpected events. In PATROL DashBoard, a threshold crossing causes an SNMP trap.
Trends report
A PATROL DashBoard report that shows the short-, middle-, and long-term trends of indicator
values.
Type of Service (ToS)
The NetFlow ToS-Based Router Aggregation feature provides the ability to enable limited
router-based Type of Service (ToS) aggregation of NetFlow export data, which results in
summarized NetFlow export data to be exported to a collection device. The result is lower
bandwidth requirements for NetFlow export data and reduced platform requirements for
NetFlow data collection devices.
UDP
See User Datagram Protocol (UDP).
unicast
A communication between a single sender and a single receiver over a network. Contrast with
broadcast and multicast.
Uniform Resource Locator (URL)
A pointer to a resource or a file on the World Wide Web. The type of file or resource depends on
the Internet application protocol. A resource can be a device in a network whose pointer is the
device IP address or its name. A URL can optionally specify a port (address:port), which is the
port number to which the TCP connection is made on the remote host computer.
URL
See Uniform Resource Locator (URL).
User Datagram Protocol (UDP)
The connectionless transport layer protocol of TCP/IP networks.
VC
See virtual channel (VC).
