Configuring PATROL DashBoard
286 PATROL DashBoard User Guide
Configuring PATROL DashBoard
Before you can manage PATROL DashBoard traps in HP OpenView, you must define
HP OpenView as the SNMP manager, enable sending SNMP traps to HP OpenView
for each device that you want to receive traps from, and set thresholds in PATROL
DashBoard.
To Define HP OpenView as the SNMP Manager
Use the PATROL DashBoard Control Panel, as described in “Setting Up the Handling
of SNMP Traps” on page 62, specifying the HP OpenView IP address or host name in
Other Managers.
To Enable Sending Traps to HP OpenView
Modify the PATROL DashBoard device properties by selecting the SNMP check box
for each device that you want HP OpenView to receive traps from, or modify the
global properties for the appropriate type of device. For more information, see
“Managing Device Properties” on page 144 and “Setting Global Properties for an
Object Type” on page 110.
To Configure Thresholds
Display the PATROL DashBoard indicator graph in full-page mode and drag the
minimum and maximum threshold pointers up or down to the appropriate levels.
For more information, see “Configuring Thresholds” on page 201.
Configuring HP OpenView
In addition to configuring PATROL DashBoard before you can access PATROL
DashBoard data in HP OpenView, as discussed in the preceding section, you must
configure HP OpenView to display PATROL DashBoard values correctly, to display
the status of the PATROL DashBoard server in the map.
To Configure HP OpenView Thresholds Globally
1
In HP OpenView, select the Root map.
2 From the menu bar, choose Map => Properties.
