Turn the Data Connection On or Off
Turn your data connection off to optimize the phone’s battery life and your data usage. However,
when your data connection is turned off, you may not always receive automatic updates to your
email, social network accounts, and other synchronized information.

With two fingers, swipe down from the status bar, and then touch . Touch the On/Off switch
next to Mobile data to turn data connection on or off.

How will I know when my phone is ready for data service?
Your user name (for example, bsmith01@virginmobileusa.sprintpcs.com) will be displayed when you
access Settings > About > Phone identity > Current username.
How do I sign in for the first time?
You are automatically signed in to access data services when you turn on your phone.
How do I know when my phone is connected to data services?
Your phone automatically connects when you use data service or an incoming message arrives.
You will also see the or indicator.
Can I make calls and use data services at the same time?
Certain capabilities may depend on your carrier’s network and your plan. Please check with your
carrier for details.
With DDTM mode off (default, configured in Settings > Call):
n If you are using the 3G network when a voice call comes in, data transmission is suspended and
will automatically resume when you complete your voice call.
n If you are on a voice call, you will not be able to establish connection with the 3G network.
With DDTM on (configured in Settings > Call):
n You cannot use voice and data services simultaneously. If you receive a call while data service is
active, your phone will forward the call to voicemail. You can place an outgoing call at any time,
but it will interrupt any in-progress data session. Your phone will not automatically resume an
interrupted data session.
