78 2C. Transferring Data
Do you want to sync your personal information
between your Pixi phone and Google or Exchange, but
first need to get the data out of a desktop app that you
want to stop using? You can do a one-time, one-way
transfer of data to your phone, and then if you choose
to, sync the data to Google or Exchange.
1. On your computer, set up an account on the
Google website (go to
gmail.com) or with Microsoft
Exchange (speak to an IT person at your
company).
2. Open Contacts on your Pixi phone.
3. Enter your username and password for the Google
or Exchange account.
4. To transfer data from a desktop app that you want
to stop using, go to
palm.com/migrate-pixi for more
information about the Data Transfer Assistant
(DTA)—it’s a free download from Palm.
About the Data Transfer Assistant
The DTA enables you to do a one-time, one-way export
of data from selected desktop apps to your Pixi phone
through the USB cable included with your phone. After
the data is on your phone, you can select the account
you want to import the data to.
Note: You don’t have to go to Calendar to set up your
account there—that’s done automatically using the
username and password you enter in Contacts.
Important: The DTA is not synchronization software. It is meant
to be used once per desktop app, to export your
info from the desktop app to an account on your
phone.
